
My Australian family and I are now in our sixth year teaching and living overseas. I worked for two years at an International School in Hanoi (Hanoi Academy and Hanoi International Kindergarten) and taught Preparatory (Prep).
My time in Vietnam was truly memorable as I learned how diverse the learning needs of my students were - in my class I had 12 different nationalities. I also worked closely with two Vietnamese co-teachers and together we created a supportive and dynamic learning environment.
Using technology to connect to the concepts:
With the assistance of parent helpers, students created a Slowmation of the alphabet, such manipulatives such as beads, blocks, pipe cleaners or themselves! Here is one of their remarkable creations:

I instigated the creation of 'send home Storysacks' to enrich and extend my student's experience with English books and provide them with opportunities for play with narratives, and increase parental involvement.
